Wind Cave Nature Reserve, Bau

I have posted this 'Baruk' photo earlier, but after viewing the original closely, I noticed and paid attention to the chopped tree trunk at the right hand side of the Baruk.

Why chopped down the tree? It blocks the signaboard behind it?

What puzzles me is this - second line of the signboard says:'No Cutting of Trees' (see enlarged below). A bit of self-contradiction here?

Family values of Sematan rural folks

Patient mother helping son with fishing gear. A place to pass weekend afternoon time.


Father and son, dressed similarly and out to the jetty for leisure walk to watch people fishing and view sunset.


Whole family at the waterfront to relax and leisure walk, all dressed smart and colorful cheer. How many generations seen here?


Greetings and social contact while shopping for things in the afternoon, small town folks. Islamic Cafe closed for holidays but chinese shop next door is in business as usual.


Go shopping by bicyble, social contact and all things done in village style. A town of harmonic ethnic mix. Convenience store open for Muslims to browse.

Day at Pandan Beach & Sematan

When you reach Pandan Beach, this is your first left side view. Nice blue sky and water. Cool breeze and sunny sky. Weekends and holidays are normally crowded with visitors. This is at low tide.


Swim or just get wet by dipping into the clear sea water, play with sand or just pick shells, you can relax and spend time on the beach. One of Sarawak's best beaches.


Boats facing towards the sea (could be owners staying on board)? Therefore you can only shoot from the rear end. It was sundown and the light shines across the sea.

My friend - J & S family portfolio

On the road to Lundu, this shot is at 40 minutes out of its capital Kuching. Very comfortable drive away from city to the coastal west.


Welcome to bay of Pandan Beach, looking out to South China Sea. A popular place for local tourists to swim, picnic and spend a night with family or friends.



A well balanced Ying and Yang, 2+2 cluster. The handsome guy J met the pretty girl S at workplace and church, as fate matched this cell formation. J and myself first met in Sibu around 1993/4?


Junior likes the beach sand and sea, the salt water, the sun. Astronaut or Prime Minister of the future Malaysia? Or Olympic champion, Nobel Prize winner?


Shy sister keeps munching goodies even when facing camera shooting. First born is always the gem. She likes to be the 'boss' even on holidays.


'I am nice, polite and courteous. I hope to grow up like Daddy, he is my idol.' Junior seems to hint at you with his typical signature smile.


Family time for breakaway weekend, sea beach is the best. 'I like it Pandan beach' is J's favourite punchline. You are not the only one saying that!


HappYness is ..... mother S and Junior. Mother and Son. We are the world.


Handsome husband and beautiful wife. Life at its best for the family.


Junior is not camera shy, the face has 3-D layers to provide close-up details.



Feeling hungry after a swim and under the sun. One last pose before going off for lunch soon. Another hour drive back to Kuching.

Outdoor Photography #2

Do you have a colorful life like rainbow? So cherish your life to its fullest while it lasts.


A few stripes of rainbow colors between green leaves.The Chinese has a legend about rainbow as a bridge for the boy and girl to meet and sit.

Do you call this rainbow? This moment appears only f or a very short time, the dark clouds hide the sun but its rays shine through a broken patch here to give some colors.


The lake water sppears green, and gives good reflections, but the water is not suitable for fish.


The sky beginning to turn dark and light is a bit low. The dark clouds give a background to the green water and natural earth tone of foreground. The trees are not really wonderful but they act as separation between water and sky.


The green foreground of the lake is still a good theme, while the buildings(not really fantastic design) now separate the water and dark clouds. But it can be nice to stay here in ths environment.


If you invert view, then you will see the trees upright and it can be a virtual photo. Taken off reflections on the water. The motorcycle rider brings back reality, he cannot live upside down.


Not a promotion flyer for a car, but it was parked just at the edge of road and the lucky number plate may strike lucky! The dark clouds are becoming more interesting to shoot this view.


There is no sunlight but the sky is bring here at this view. No dark clouds. The lake is not still to give good reflections but the color is used to contrast the foreground. A good place for Dude to walk in evenings.


Really nice to walk or cycle here, no? The sun is hiding behind the clouds and no chance to view sunset. But it is refreshing to be in this environment for a trekk or just relax.

6 Oct 2007, Saturday afternoon at Bau town. Welcome Signboard to Tasik Biru, Bau.

Tasik Biru or Green Lake in Chinese, is found in Bau, an old gold-mining town, 30 minutes drive from Kuching city.

The lake is now converted into recreation park, but it is reported the water may be contaminated.

A wider view of the lake. Seen here is another photographer concentrating on shooting details.
The yellow-stemmed bamboo is providing cool shade at the side of the lake. A pontoon jetty is barely floating.

A plaster moulded shade to provide a place to sit and drink, but only one is seen here.

This photographer is on the ground, grabbing his camera afraid of losing it. He is said to be one of the best in Malaysia. (Not supposed to recognize the face)

A typical Bidayuh-style (a local traditional tribe) roof architectural design, used for park office.

The office and entrance to Wind Cave Nature Reserve, part of Bau's trourist attraction. Limestone cave formation.

At the side of Fairy Cave Nature Reservce is found this country-style restaurant nicely landscaped outdoor scene.

The fully-grown green plants add to the relaxing mood. Conveniently located at the side of main road.


7 Oct 2007 Sunday 8.50am, another set of Nikon D80 camera bought in KL Saturday afternoon, specially flown into Kuching, and handed over to Hoe/Evelyn, the new co-owners and photographers. Welcome to digital image photography.They started dSLR shooting without RTDM or Quick Guide, smart people.

Earlier, at 7.10am at Pekan Batu Kawa, 2 girl buddies patiently waiting for fish to bite the hook.
